I have confirmed that all files previously generated are indeed *.png
files even though the export bitmap dialog previously allowed extension
to be anything.
I suggest the dialog be amended to state that only *.png files are
generated. There is ample space to the left of the Export button to

The 'file' command can detect a range of 'standard' file formats
regardless of the filename suffix, e.g.:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:Pictures$ file test.png
test.png: PNG image data, 1120 x 892, 8-bit/color RGB, non-interlaced
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:Pictures$ cp test.png test.gif
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:Pictures$
