Public bug reported:

LiveCD boot just hangs.

LiveCD (in Safe Graphics mode) gets as far as KDE splash screen and
hangs.

Install (with quiet & splash removed from boot options) displays
"Starting Ubiquity"; then blank/black screen; then nothing. Gave it 10
minutes just in case!

I'm trying to install on a Sony Vaio PCG-K215Z (which has an ATI Radeon
9200 graphics card).

Fiesty was the last release that ran "out of the box". 
I got Gutsy working by installing an older driver.
Hardy had pretty much the same issues as Intrepid.
