Public bug reported:

I have to connect to the network using a netgear access point which is
likely be using default settings. The network is non-password protected
and called "NETGEAR". I am using iwl3945. The network works fine from my
laptop under windows: I see it when I scan for networks, and I connect
to it immediately. Under ubuntu, both hardy and intrepid, I just can't
see the network. Repeated attempts to "iwlist scan" result in seeing
sometimes a network called something like C.G.NETGEAR which is password
protected. Please help me report as much information as possible: using
windows makes me feel like being trapped.

** Affects: ubuntu
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
