Public bug reported: the Fn special keys to control brightness and, crucially, wifi on/off don't work on a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Li 2727. This is a budget notebook computer.
This is a show-stopper because it means the Li 2727 is unable to go online. On each boot-up, the wifi must be manually turned on using Fn+F1 (even in Windows). There is no way to permanently turn it on in the BIOS. FWIW this is a serious hardware issue that's a source of annoyance for all Li 2727 users but there's no sign of a fix from Fujitsu Siemens. Brightness can be controlled using the relevant Gnome applet. But one useful feature, of switching the fan to "quiet" mode, is also inaccessible. This is one reason why I bought this notebook. A fix for the wifi problem can be found here http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=644899 ... but it's very outdated and doesn't appear to work any longer on Ubuntu 8.10 (at least I couldn't get it to work although I skipped the requirement to compile a new madwifi module). ** Affects: acerhk (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Fn keyboard shortcuts don't work on Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Li 2727 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/288631 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
