Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ubiquity
I used the Ubuntu 8.10 64-bit LiveCD (on a USB flash drive instead of a CD actually) and started the installation. When I arrived at the part where I had to partition my hard disk drive, Ubiquity suggested to resize my Windows Vista partition and use the freed space. I already had arranged that half of the hard disk drive contains unpartitioned free space before I started the LiveCD. As you can see that huge amount of free space is completely ignored. The proposal to resize sda1 and use the freed space would apparently only use the freed space which would become available if sda1 were to be resized, not the approximately 320 GB of free space which was already available. In my situation, it would have obviously been the best suggestion to use the third option, use the largest continuous free space. ** Affects: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- default partitioning suggestion is ill-advised https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/295874 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
