I'm wondering that under kdm there is no session to choose exept
failsafe and last used, usually there must be kde or kde4 ?

I bet that the upgrade failed in some way.
I'd do a sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop --reinstall
This will make sure you have everything needed for a base kubuntu installation.
