Thanks for reporting thins bug. It is some time since it was reported
and updated version of KDE has been released. I am running an updated
version and do not have this problem.
Can you please try to update KDE to the latest version and check if you
still have the problem.

I had this problem with KDE 4.1 and 4.2. Ever since I upgraded to 4.3.0
(using kubuntu-ppa packages for jaunty), the logout function works
properly.
