I'm going to change status to 'Fix Released' since it seem to be solved,
although in 9.04 kernels.
I also have been consulting about this, and it doesn't seem to qualify
for a SRU in 8.04.

using Ubuntu 9.04. It should work with 9.10 also but I haven't
tested it. I currently have no 8.04 LTS installed on my laptop.

9.04. Not for 8.04. It is given only to help you fix it in 8.04 if

Here is the WLAN installation steps I followed in
Hardy/Samsung-NC20. I copied it from another forum. It worked
with Ubuntu 8.04, Hardy Heron. You should connect to a LAN
before this. First under System/Administration/HardwareDrivers,
disable both the Atheros HAL and the Atheros wireless
Thanks for your report. This has definitely nothing to do with the
linux-wlan-ng package. If you are using a proprietary driver
(SystemAdministrationHardware Drivers is mostly for those) it is a
likely a bug in that driver.

Ok, I understand that it is a third party driver which may or may
not work. Is there any way we can bring it to the notice of
these third parties (Atheros). They should be contributing and
responsible for the driver shipped with distribution.
