aptitude Search Patterns don't
The problem remains present. All the following commands will give the same
error output:
$ aptitude search ?name\(apt\)
$ aptitude search '?name(apt)'
$ aptitude search ?name(apt)
and the error output is, as expected:
E: Regex compilation error: Invalid preceding regular expression
This works
Invalid? Maybe, but the forum thread started from this (see below), not
the lack of escaping PBCAK:
$ aptitude search ?name(apt)
E: Regex compilation error: Invalid preceding regular expression
$ aptitude search ~napt
p add-apt-key - Command line tool to add GPG keys to
It's common knowledge that special characters need to be escaped in
bash.
aptitude search ?name\(apt\)
works just fine.
