Hello,
I am hit by this bug at it seems.
This is quite annoying and open since 2009, anything I can do to help have this
solved? I am not all a programmer but I can run some tests and command if
necessary

I have bluez installed. bluetoothd isn't running. In fact, that is how I
founded this bug, because I cannot make it to run:
$ bluetoothd -nd

error as karmic by default

I have the same problem, using a usb bluetooth. at startup it does not
recognize the usb dongle, but if I just unplug and plug the dongle, it gets
recognized and works fine. If you guide me, I can help further debugging.

If I just unplug and plug again the usb dongle, it just works:
