Public bug reported: Binary package hint: mutter
I decided to try out gnome-shell, and found it nearly unusable. Whatever mutter is, it consumes 100% of the CPU for multiple seconds after very simple interactions with GNOME. I noticed particularly that it would do this when opening an image with eog, or even if I hit "previous" or "next" on the toolbar to go to another image.
