I just don't understand, how it can be fixed if it isn't!!!!!
This problem still exists into the latest release 11.10.
Why it suddenly has a problem after release upgrade seems to be a mystery!
There are a lot of proposed workarounds, but non of them has brought my eth0 
back alive on boot.

Strangely, on another piece of hardware (different) it doesn't seem to have an 
effect.
Oh, well... good thing we don't have to reboot too often, however on power 
outages and limited backup through UPS it will most certainly a pain in the 
neck, in particular if you have to do this on multiple boxes.
