options snd-hda-intel position_fix=1 enable=yes

I hate jumping the gun on things like this, but I've been playing with
this for the past day and noticed that if I use the following options
the inputs keeps working. This is with Alsa 1.0.20, I need to try it
with the 1.0.22.1 version later. For anyone having the problem with
their mic or
Hi,
I have tha same problem, the front mic works (if I plug a mic in it of course)
but the built-in mic doesn't work. I have an old Dell Inspiron 1526 running
Kubunt 9.10 Karmic Koala. I have just updated pulseaudio, and l-b-m-a-k-g but
it still doesn't work,

gianfilippo, that worked on my very old Ubuntu 8.04 box. But does not
work for me now. I'm migrating back to my older slower computer so I
can function with a mic again.

Hello Xen,
I have your same problem. I'm using as a workaround the following commands:
killall -9 pulseaudio
sudo alsa force-reload
with these commands, my external and internal microphones start working again
(well, they usually die again after 10 minutes.. but it's still something).
Hope to
Sounds like my problem
Symptoms:
After a fresh reboot sometimes Pulseaudio Volume Meter recorder shows mic

a short period but usually dies when I run a program that tries to access it.
Is there a way to restart
I had a similar problem with my microphone not working.
I've upgraded to pulse audio 0.9.21 from the above source and I can now
see my microphone and it works properly.

Am also having the same problem. Running up-to-date Karmic. I installed
linux-backports-modules-alsa-karmic-generic and rebooted but the mic is
still not working.
The audio output is also extremely quiet until I install alsamixer and
manually turn up the Master F setting. I also turned the mic

(two in a array) at the top of my screen and one on the front of the
cardreader (nearly the touchpad) that works.
The mic array on the top of my screen doesn't work. In my list in the
soundsettings, Ubuntu shows
