The same thing is happening for me in Warzone 2100. The sound lasted
about 10 seconds and then it's gone. Computer freezes when trying to
quit the game. I will check /var/log/messages later.

I fixed the sound by trying everything explained in this thread. I
really dont know which one fixed it because I did some changes on my
desktop remotely. You can start by trying what's posted on comment #27.
It would also help a lot if you try this:
1. Reboot your computer.
2. Look at your
I meant to say if you ***dont*** see any errors after playing UrT then

I have the same issue; sound just stop while playing urban terror and when I
exit the game the whole system freezes.
So it's better to just alt-tab and kill the process.

I have tested sound on my desktop for quite some days and it looks like
my desktop is working fine. The only installation I did was the updates
which I do on a regular basis, one of the updates must have fixed the
issue.
Whatever caused the issue with sound dying while playing urban terror
has
I attempted to log the errors after sound failed on my laptop but
nothing was logged, the process that was logging the errors simply died
and nothing was logged. The log I am sending attached to this message
are the errors that were logged before the crash.
I solved the sound issues on my
I am using Urban Terror on my desktop to test sound. I will test that
change in the following days.
However I am experiencing the same problem on my laptop using karmic. I
notice the bug while using rhythmbox. This time I gathered a few other
details:
This is the same message I get every time

Mezquitale, I am assuming that you are using OpenArea for Urban Terror?
If so, there might be a fix. Try installing the libsdl1.2debian-
pulseaudio package (as opposed to the default libsdl1.2debian package).
More information can be found here:
Changing the 's' to an 'e' in this line:
TIM_ALSASEQPARAMS=-Os
Effectively kills my sound on both desktop and laptop. I have been
testing more on my desktop and the sound goes off after playing about
20~30 minutes or Urban Terror.
In /var/log/messages I always see these lines:
Dec 11 12:03:08
mezquitale, did those log messages come from before or after rebooting
your machine (if you rebooted at all)?
If you didn't reboot at all, could you try that and see if those
messages come back the next time you lose sound.

I rebooted my desktop after I made all the changes. Once I had sound
working again I played Urban terror on different days and checked
/var/log/messages after the sound failed, I consistently saw those
messages logged.
Everytime I reboot my machine these are the last lines I see on
Interesting, here is the output on my desktop while I was playing Urban
Terror. Firefox loses sound consistently on my laptop while watching
youtube videos, I go play a video and then go another tab and begin
browsing and sound dies.
I very rarely watch youtube videos on my desktop. I have
sudo fuser -v /dev/dsp* /dev/snd/*
USERPID ACCESS COMMAND
/dev/snd/controlC0: elf4432 F pulseaudio
/dev/snd/controlC1: elf4432 F pulseaudio
/dev/snd/controlC2: elf4432 F pulseaudio
/dev/snd/pcmC0D0p: elf4432 F...m
Ah-ha! You have timidity running! It might be linked to Urban Terror or
npviewer. Timidity has been known to cause issues with pulseaudio. As root,
you will need to edit the /etc/default/timidity.cfg file. Find the line that
says: TIM_ALSASEQPARAMS=-Os and change it to

different, we would like to keep these bug reports separate, at least

mezquitale, the next time sound cuts out, could you please run the
following command in the terminal: sudo fuser -v /dev/dsp* /dev/snd/*
/dev/seq*
and post the outtput.
Also, could you test to see if other programs also lose sound when
Firefox does?

aIt looks like the settings from my keyboard is a different bug in

new feature in karmic that allows you to specify the keyboard and
language when youre logging in. I had to do it more than once so that
the settings were

I forgot to mention another piece of information. The sound is turned
