OK. I installed gnomeradio 64 bit from
https://launchpad.net/~geoubuntu/+archive/test and after I set mixer to
hw:0/Line for my ICH5 sound card, I can change volume level. Thanks.

The new systems, throwing the OSS, and there is no /dev/mixer.
I write a patch to support for looping back audio through ALSA devices (
including mixer control ).
Should be tested in several types of tv/fm tuners and then all the work
will be made public.
Package for ubuntu is here:
To adjusting the volume in ubuntu 12.04 LTS, load snd_mixer_oss module:
sudo modprobe snd_mixer_oss
and restart.
Voila, you can change volume from Gnomeradio UI.

I have sound in gnomeradio and tvtime with and without padsp! I had a fresh
install of 12.04, and installed packets that i saved with synaptic from 10.04.
I do not know if that maked any significance, but what i did do, is opened
alsamixer and unmuted line and aux outputs.
In case it is working
It is maybe working 'cause of pae kernel

I also try to use tvtime and cannot get any sound with my Pinnacle PCTV
310i . I have specially searched for bought this rather old card because
the number of web references that it works under Linux.
I get channels, get video but have no sound and this card has no
separate audio output to
I suppose there should be a kernel module to handle the audio, if there is
no wire to get audio by audiocard input jack.
Not sure though

A little modification on my script for using pulse instead alsa and the
opportunity to streaming it by pulseaudio and mixing with other sounds:
#!/bin/sh
sox -r 32000 -t alsa hw:2,0 -t alsa pulse
mpid=$!
gnomeradio
kill $mpid
Please,
Thank you but this is a HACK, and its CPU intensive
Teh devs should have warned us about Maverick being broken.
We wouldnt have upgraded.
What about the quake based games ? What about the missing and promised OSSP

I tried the patch. Had a little trouble applying it to a stock tvtime,
but it works!
Starting tvtime with: tvtime --mixer=hw:0/Line
In any case I think this bug is really a duplicate of #579300.

There is a hero who made a PPA for tvtime with alsamixer
Read more here:

And it works !!!

There is a patch for tvtime to support mixers from alsa devices:
http://www.stapelspeicher.org/tvtime/patches/experimental/
With that patch it supposed that you can use something like:
tvtime --mixer=hw:1/Line
I haven't tried that patch. I made a simple script for volume control
#!/bin/sh
from https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/tvtime

tvtime (1.0.2-6.1ubuntu1) maverick; urgency=low
* Merge from Debian unstable, remaining changes:
- Add quilt support.
- debian/patches/tvtime-1.0.1-savematte.patch: tvtime does not rebember
Can anyone identify and apply the magic patch for tvtime?
Hopefully, tvtime will work with *alsa mixers by default.*
Cheers,

Ok, I have make gnomeradio work with ALSA. On this page:
http://www.taringa.net/posts/linux/5777157/Sintonizadora-K-World-PCI-TV-PVR-TV-7134SE-en-Linux.html
there is a solution. Make this script, as /usr/local/bin/audioradio2.sh p.e.:

Hello pablo,
for gnome radio it's maybe a solution. But even then it's to processor
intensif. For tv card itself it's a pain in the ass since there is a
delay between image and sound. Off course i do not route out the sound
to /dev/dsp in tv time. the only control we used was the /dev/mixer emu
Yes, yes, I mean only gnomeradio and on my i5 CPU.
Thanks.

My card is connected to Line-in in sound card, and fortunately it works.
Unfortunately, I had to unmute the input via alsamixer everytime I
launched TVtime (as it is the only working tool for that) and mute after
I finished watching TV. So I made a little script, you know what to do
with it:)
Please, test with the kernel customized on this bug:

This problem exists in final release too. This is very annoying to see
that all devices using Line-IN are not working in 10.10, while they
worked well in 10.04.Compilation of kernel with a patch is not a task a
average user can do.

Why does the native ALSA virtual capture (plughw:X,Y) not
Not plughw:0 nor hw:0 works on gnomeradio:
sox -c 2 -s -r 44100 -t alsa hw:0 -t alsa -r 44100 -d gnomeradio
By the way, what is the mixer on gconf for gnomeradio?

Hello,
I dont know if that will help anyone but i found that in my case, even with
connected TV Card and line in with a sound card i had no sound. Found out that
i just didnt have a loopback module loaded. After loading it :

hello , Thank's for joining.
The problem is that the developpers from sound section, Dissabled all
oss emulation into kernel. This because they try (and this is not easy)
to let work everyrhing true pulse audio oss. Many persons already
informed them that :
1) Pulse audio does not support many
And because of this, tvtime doesn't produce sound and I can't watch TV.
Solution is:
1. recompile kernel
2. connect tv card sound output to sound card input
Is there an easier solution? Yes, there is. UBUNTU TEAM ADD THE OSS
SOUND CORE TO KERNEL ;-)
