My jailbroken Ipod touch 1st generation is not functional with 10.10 either.
However with 10.04 it works fine, fortunately.
But my sons new Ipod (not jailbroken) works fine with 10.10

I'm using amd64 with maverick 10.10. sudo apt-get install
gstreamer0.10-plugins* worked for me, though I believe you will only
need ugly multiverse. Anyways, it is import that you RESTART your
Rhythmbox. Otherwise, it will still only use previously installed
libraries.

ipod will not update
well I have installed gstreamer0.10-plugins* and still no change. I am
running ubuntu maverick, it worked fine in 10.04 after installed
codec's. however, in 1.10 the music on the ipod is not listed in
rythembox (shuffle) and I am stuck doingthings in a vm of 10.04. i KNOW
the music is on the ipod,
er I wrote that up wrong. I have read the thread, and installed ALL
codec's. however nothing is listen (ipod shuffle) in rythmbox after i
plug it in. its not working for some other people as well.. I think it
a to do with the ipod model/generation with the different results.

ipod will not
I'm too being affected by this bug. Just upgraded to 10.10 (64 bits) to
find that my Ipod shuffle (wich was working perfectly back on 10.04) is
not working anymore. I can open the ipod from Rythmbox or banshee but it
then, show no files. If i copy some music to the ipod and (wait for it)
eject it,
I just wanted to add that this IS OLY IOD SHUFFLES that are affected. my
nano functions perfectly

I have the same problem with Ubuntu 10.10 minimal install, Rhythmbox
0.13.1, ipod touch 3.1.3. I have noticed that newly synced files have
the file extension stripped off, not sure why.

10.10 and rhythmbox recognize mu ipod nano 1rst gen , i can put music on, but
1 - if i delete them the space is still taken
2 - when i disconect my ipod and start to play the files they're all 0.00 long.

did you quit the app right after copied the files to the ipod? there's a
few bugs upstream for that. May you tell us a few easy steps in order to
reproduce the bug in Maverick? I have and ipod so it might be easier for
me to reproduce it. I cannot confirm the bug though my ipod at least
works fine
maybe different models are affected, as I said I added 3 songs and closed it
and it broke my ipod.. it would not play songs. so I then:
1. rm ~/.local/share/rhythmbox/rhythmdb.xml
2. add folder
3. highlist list and drag and drop to ipod
4. wait for songs to be added
5. close program and eject
