I have changed the status so that this can be reviewed by John.
The reason for this action is that that this also affect users
presenting on SVGA projectors (800×600 pixels), not to mention a those
with non-working video driver.
Please note that as a workaround, gnome-shell does support 800x600.

Thanks for the bug report. It seems these screen resolution are not
really what Unity targets and I see no chance for that changing. I
believe I even read John Lea saying 1024*576 is whats our minimal
supported resolutions

unity supports the minimal screen resolution of 1024*600 this bug is
hence invalid or wontfix as thats not a target.
