OK, I've logged in via ssh from another machine to check out the
situation. According to the output of command 'ps', both of gdm and Xorg
were running. However in /var/log/Xorg.0.log the last line was:
(++) using VT number 7
And nothing more. I've started to strace Xorg process (with switch
