Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: blender

When I run Blender with libgl1-mesa-glx (sure in indirect mode because my
hardware, sis620, don't have acceleration), after some time (never the same
time, maybe 5, 15, 50 minutes) it crashs my entire Xorg (or Xorg crashes
Blender ?) when I'm doing some modelling. I see the log always report the same
problem, I'm posting here.
When I run blender with libgl1-mesa-swx11 this also happens. But when i run
Blender (the same 2.42a version, but static compiled) from blender.org, this
don't happen, it never crashes, but it is much more slow in redrawing. For me
this appear some kind of excessive compiler optimization in ubuntu build, I'm
guessing.

I may help more with some feedback.
