I can not reproduce this bug on ubuntu 12.04 (unity default
installation).
i will try later today lubuntu 12.04 to see if it fixed globally or if

The problem is very simple with simple solution:
there is a bad icon - empty image - called nm-wwan-tower.svg, probably
in all icon themes. Many other icons reference to it (including icons
for mobile broadband technology). All you need to do is to replace this
icon by something else
