This did it! That is the 2nd option. I did not try the other option. Nevertheless I suggest to leave the bug open. The clickpad should be recognised automatically. Ideally also usable values should be preset. Alternatively a tool to adjust the values would be nice. So, thanks for the help.

Your folder structure shows usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/ you should create a new directory: /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d also have you checked to see via synclient if your touchpad is being recognised as clickpad: synclient -l if it says Clickpad=0 then your touchpad is not being recognised as a
