After upgrading from Ubuntu 13.04 to Ubuntu 13.10, gedit's icon started
disappearing from the app switcher.
However it does appear when searching applications, and in the gutter
alongside other running apps.

Xubuntu 12.04 all up to date.
gnome-icon-theme and gnome-icon-theme-full installed plus I tried a
few others.

bug in the GNOME icons
