There's another guy having exactly the same problem, and another guy
with similar problems when trying to install Xubuntu 12.04 with Live
USB.
I don't know if this is a general problem or if it just applies to some

I have also had problems using the desktop CD.
My feeling is that you are finding known bugs with usb-creator. I'm not
going to mark this as a duplicate of those bugs, that would be
premature.
