I can confirm the package in -proposed works.
Before updating, Hardy's update-manager wanted me to upgrade to
Intrepid. After the update, it's telling me to upgrade to Lucid.

I also have this problem. Is there any script i can set to run
automatically at start to circumvent this bug? It's annoying to log out
and in everytime after booting my netbook.

I've noticed this bug report and merge request only after I did similar work to
merge the (a bit more recent) 1.4.0.dfsg+r17300-1 version from Debian -- see

This problem started for me within the last 2 weeks or so (though this
may be related to my traveling in a hot African summer climate).
The most annoying aspect of the behavior is that instead of gracefully
suspending or shutting down, the system just abruptly turns off --
