Had the same problem and at the moment I worked around it by downgrading
to linux-image-3.2.0-60-generic. Of course this is not a permanent
solution, especially since I probably can not do the long expected
upgrade from 12.04 to 14.04 until this is fixed.

Whenever I start shotwell, it spends ~1 minute writing metadata to
files, and during this time the program is unusable. I am attaching a
debug log. Please let me know if you need any further information.
I've run 'tail -f /var/log/kern.log' while I was working. The system crashes
hard when I mark a region in the terminal. There seems to be _no_ kernel panic
happening but random code execution. After about a minute the screen turns into
random patterns! So, to prevent data corruption I switched

Same problem with i7 - intel 4770 processor desktop (internal 4770
graphics only but using 3 screens connected) with Ubuntu 14.04 - after
1hr inactivity, computer is set to suspend. On starting up again by
pressing a key or moving mouse, the poewr button comes on constantly
(rather than flashing),
Update your POL version to 4.2.4 from playonlinux.com and see if that
helps. This should not be an issue at all. Your debug output looks
weird, like it was cut up/edited. Do you have the raw output? If not, we
can close this ticket tomorrow, as this seems to be a lone issue, and
not a bug to POL
This was filed a while ago, on an old version of POL, and on an alpha
version of Ubuntu 14.04. Please test again with a fresh install, and
let's see if it still being grumpy.

We regularly use bcache to use SSDs as an extra block cache layer for
performance on large working sets (archive mirrors, large databases,
