Yes, I got some freezes, too, even longer than 10 seconds. One time I
restarted the laptop as I did not know what is going on, another time at
some point Gnome crashed and started by itself. This did not happen in

[Bug 1746340] Re: Samsung SSD corruption (fsck needed)

2018-02-08 Thread Lucas Zanella
Just after running sudo dpkg -i *.deb, and before rebooting, the error
happened. Since the new kernel isn't running yet, I guess this current
kernel still had the problem? That's strange because I've been running
for more than 24 hours, downloading lots of torrents and had no
problems.

I'm going to reboot now to test the new kernel

Here's the output:

sudo dpkg -i *.deb

bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=885920 Does the workaround listed in it's
description work for you?

It seems like we just need to wait for Firefox 59 for Wayland support.

I guess LP: #1746340 is the same as this one.
Can you try this kernel with "nvme_core.force_apst=1"? I want to know if a PCI
reset for NVMe after resume can solve the issue.

[Bug 1748373] [NEW] Resume from hibernate fails on latest kernels

2018-02-08 Thread John Smith
Public bug reported:

I have a Dell Inspiron 15 laptop (Intel Core i3-6006U) running Ubuntu
17.10. Kernel 4.13.0.21 hibernates and resumes without problems, but the
three more recent kernels (4.13.0.25, 4.13.0.31 and 4.13.0.32) fail:
hibernate appears to succeed, but resume stops dead part-way through.
This happens whether I use the built-in hibernate capability or usw-
susp, and whether my Gnome session uses xorg or Wayland.

/var/log/kern.log doesn't seem to help much. A typical record of the failed
attempt to resume is as follows:
Jan 23 21:10:13 bombay kernel: [ 98.197921] Bluetooth: RFCOMM TTY layer
initialized
Jan 23 21:10:13 bombay kernel: [ 98.197937] Bluetooth: RFCOMM socket layer
initialized
Jan 23 21:10:13 bombay kernel: [ 98.197954] Bluetooth: RFCOMM ver 1.11
Jan 23 21:10:19 bombay kernel: [ 104.454231] rfkill: input handler disabled
Jan 23 21:10:23 bombay kernel: [ 108.416251] EXT4-fs (sda1): mounted filesystem
with ordered data mode. Opts: (null)
Jan 23 21:10:41 bombay kernel: [ 126.528680] usbcore: deregistering interface
driver uvcvideo
Jan 23 21:10:42 bombay kernel: [ 126.919415] rfkill: input handler enabled
Jan 23 21:10:42 bombay kernel: [ 127.240559] PM: Syncing filesystems ...

Several other people have reported similar behaviour:
https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2382336. (This report is an
edited version of what I say there.)

You need to ask Canonical about this issue having been fixed since this bug is
already mirrored to Canonical.

And is there any outlook from them with respect to having fixed this
issue.

[Bug 1748354] [NEW] ec2: systemctl restart cloud-init after upgrade 17.1.46 -> 17.2.30

2018-02-08 Thread Chad Smith
Public bug reported:

During proposed SRU testing, I discovered an upgrade issue for EC2
customers who don't reboot their instances after cloud-init upgrade and
instead issue the commandline 'systemctl restart cloud-init'.

The following traceback is caused by the new instance document changes added in
rev https://git.launchpad.net/cloud-init/commit/?id=703241a3.

What this changeset didn't account for is our pickled ec2localdatasource
from earlier get_data runs, not persisting an Ec2LocalDatasouce.identity
attribute so subsequent get_instance_id calls wouldn't see this
attribute on the class yet.

[Bug 1748345] Re: QCA9377 requires more IRAM banks for its new firmware

2018-02-08 Thread AceLan Kao
** Description changed:

  [Impact]
The new firmware for QCA9377 supports Qualcomm's RED(Radio Equipment
Directive) compliance and requires more IRAM banks. The origin 4 banks doesn't
fit the new BDF and firmware.

  [Fix]
Change the bank number from 4 to 9.

  [Regression Potential]
Low, increasing the number of IRAM banks should be no harm.
+
+ [Misc]
+ Currently, both driver patch and new firmware do not upstream yet. For the
sake of avoiding dkms package, we can change t
+ he IRAM bank number before their patch is ready.

[Bug 1743300] Re: libguestfs not work anymore with 4.13.0-26-generic #29~16.04.2-Ubuntu

2018-02-08 Thread Nivedita Singhvi
This is indeed the breakage in supermin, as suggested by Richard and
others here.

The following mainline kernel commit in 4.13 broke supermin's symlink
handling:

commit 407cd7fb83c0ebabb490190e673d8c71ee7df97e
Author: Tahsin Erdogan
Date: Tue Jul 4 00:11:21 2017 -0400
"ext4: change fast symlink test to not rely on i_blocks"

This breaks the supermin v5.1.14 package (Ubuntu xenial version:
5.1.14-2ubuntu1)
which will not work with any kernel v4.13 based or later.

A fix for this is available in v5.1.18 and later releases of the Debian
supermin.
The current Ubuntu devel release (Bionic) has already picked up the v5.1.19
version of
supermin.

Reproduction

This affects any user of supermin functionality, and manifests in multiple ways.
Along with this bug description breakage of libguestfs-test-tool, the bug also
can be reproduced with other tools.

e.g.:

# guestfish --rw -a
/var/lib/libvirt/images/ubuntu-16.04-server-cloudimg-amd64-disk1.img
Welcome to guestfish, the guest filesystem shell for
editing virtual machine filesystems and disk images.

Type: 'help' for help on commands
'man' to read the manual
'quit' to quit the shell

> run
◓ 50%
⟦▒▒▒⟧
 --:--
libguestfs: error: appliance closed the connection unexpectedly.
This usually means the libguestfs appliance crashed.
Do:
export LIBGUESTFS_DEBUG=1 LIBGUESTFS_TRACE=1
and run the command again. For further information, read:
http://libguestfs.org/guestfs-faq.1.html#debugging-libguestfs
You can also run 'libguestfs-test-tool' and post the *complete* output
into a bug report or message to the libguestfs mailing list.
libguestfs: error: guestfs_launch failed.
This usually means the libguestfs appliance failed to start or crashed.
Do:
export LIBGUESTFS_DEBUG=1 LIBGUESTFS_TRACE=1
and run the command again. For further information, read:
http://libguestfs.org/guestfs-faq.1.html#debugging-libguestfs
You can also run 'libguestfs-test-tool' and post the *complete* output
into a bug report or message to the libguestfs mailing list.

Fix testing
===
I have backported the fix to 5.1.14-2ubuntu1 and tested various utils
successfully.

# guestfish --rw -a /var/lib/libvirt/images/ubuntu-16.04-server-

Welcome to guestfish, the guest filesystem shell for
editing virtual machine filesystems and disk images.

Current workarounds and backport
===
An updated supermin package for xenial with the fix backported will allow the
libguestfs-tools & supermin to work with any kernels, including v4.13 and
later.

In the meanwhile, the workaround suggested in comment 13 by Oliver above which
enables the use of kernels earlier than v4.13 should work.

[Bug 1748332] Re: Bridges fail to come online when configured via LXD, netplan, and cloud-init

2018-02-08 Thread Mike Pontillo
Actually it might be nice in this case to, in fact, bind the carrier to
eth1.

In this scenario, I was planning on hanging other nested VMs and/or
containers on the virtual bridge inside the LXC. If the underlying link
was down for whatever reason, it would be more honest for that state to
propagate all the way to the bridge, so that the internal interfaces on
the nested VMs/bridges also see the link as down.

Another approach I have used in the past is to simply monitor the link
state of the interface that provides connectivity to the bridge, so that
if it becomes link-down, the VMs on the bridge can still communicate
with each other, but we're able to act on the link-down event by
dropping a route from the bridge, so that the proper ICMP errors occur
when the nested VMs try to route outside the network via that interface.

[Bug 1582585] Re: the speed of query user from ldap server is very slow

2018-02-08 Thread Billy Olsen
@gunph1ld - these changes are already in the ocata code you are running.
While 15-20 seconds is still not fast, it is generally faster than the
previous code which would issue a query per entry record in the
id_mapping table.

[Bug 1748344] [NEW] clang++ regex_replace always segfaults with -O3

2018-02-08 Thread corey taylor
Public bug reported:

Calling regex_replace with -O3 will crash no matter the input. This
seems to have started occurring after an apt-get upgrade, but I cannot
say for sure exactly what package update might have caused it. We were
able to run similar code in previous builds of 16.04.

If you compile without -O3, it runs.

clang++ --std=c++14 -O3 test.cpp

[Bug 1748342] [NEW] cgroup: remove cgroup directory leading kernel crash in kill_css

2018-02-08 Thread haibinzhang
Public bug reported:

We got feedback from customer that cvm(cloud virtual machine) crashed when
using kubelet updating container-service in ubuntu xenial. Logs show as follow.
We find a patch (commit 33c35aa4817864e056fd772230b0c6b552e36ea2) in linux
mainline, which can indeed fix this bug. But ubuntu-xenial.git has not merged
it yet.

Do you guys have a plan for merging?

bridge, then it is considered unconfigured. networkctl seems to confirm.

Now, it looks like we could use:

BindCarrier=
A link name or a list of link names. When set, controls the behavior of the
current link. When all links in the list are in an operational down state, the
current link is brought down. When at least one link has carrier, the current
interface is brought up.

I tested this, and it appears to work:

# cat /run/systemd/network/10-netplan-br0.network
[Match]
Name=br0

[Network]
BindCarrier=eth1
root@b1:~# networkctl status br0
● 2: br0
   Link File: n/a
Network File: /run/systemd/network/10-netplan-br0.network
Type: ether
   State: degraded (configured)
  HW Address: ee:17:6d:12:fe:c5
 Address: fe80::ec17:6dff:fe12:fec5
Carrier Bound To: eth1

root@b1:~# ip link show br0
2: br0: mtu 1500 qdisc noqueue state UP mode
DEFAULT group default qlen 1000
link/ether ee:17:6d:12:fe:c5 brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff

root@b1:~# ip link show eth1
94: eth1@if95: mtu 1500 qdisc noqueue master
br0 state UP mode DEFAULT group default qlen 1000
link/ether 00:16:3e:02:88:ea brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff link-netnsid 0

However, it's not clear to me that we want to bring down br0 if one or
more of the interfaces were to go down, so this may be something that
needs a better upstream fix.

This issue seemed to match:
https://github.com/systemd/systemd/issues/425

And some users seem to be working around by emitting units which are
effectively a network-online hook, but that doesn't look very clean IMO.

Scrap that plan. It's not working. I guess the stack trace signature
here is too old to much current crashes any more.

See bug 1505409 instead.

[Bug 1721428] Re: Artful (17.10) Session logout after screen turned off

2018-02-08 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Craig, in that case please just:

1. Open a bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+filebug
2. Add tag "xwayland"
3. Change it from Public to Private (top right of the page)
4. Attach your crash file to the bug.

Normally we do not recommend doing it that way as there's no guarantee
we'll be able to decode it by hand.
