[Bug 641657] Re: SSH connections freeze after a period of time
Hi Steve, Actually, I'm seeing it on any remote SSH connection (either to a Canonical DC or to my own shared server). I'm in Taipei at the moment so I'll try again here just to see if there's something wonky on my end (router, or switch maybe) causing the SSH connection do hang... As for the rest, I haven't done an strace on it, nor a -vv... but I'll keep that in mind too. It doesn't respond, that I know of to the escape char, but to be perfectly honest, I'm not sure I tried '~' anyway... I keep trying telnet chars by habit... so another thing to thing to try. I'm going to leave this as incomplete for the moment and I'll try to get an strace from a failing condition and try some other stuff (like from this different location) and see what happens. -- SSH connections freeze after a period of time https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/641657 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to openssh in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 643100] [NEW] Recent update broke dhcp
Public bug reported: With the last Ubuntu update dhcp(3)-client got uninstalled on my system. So when the network-manager tried to connected I read the following in /var/log/syslog: Sep 19 18:34:51 till-laptop NetworkManager: WARN dhclient_start(): /sbin/dhclient does not exist. So I reinstalled dhcp3-client (using aptitude install dhcp3-client) and now I read the following: Sep 19 23:48:35 till-laptop dhclient: Usage: dhclient [-1dqrx] [-nw] [-p port] [-s server] Sep 19 23:48:35 till-laptop dhclient: [-cf config-file] [-lf lease-file][-pf pid-file] [-e VAR=val] Sep 19 23:48:35 till-laptop dhclient: [-sf script-file] [interface] Sep 19 23:50:58 till-laptop dhclient: Internet Systems Consortium DHCP Client V3.1.3 The workaround is to open a terminal and type: sudo dhclient3 and everything seems to work. The only downside is that the network manager doesn't seem to recognize this. So it keeps spinning up there. You're only affected if you try to use dhcp. If you hardcode network settings in the connection profile (in network-manager), it works like expected. [Bug 642518] Re: package fglrx 2:8.723.1-0ubuntu4 failed to install/upgrade: fglrx kernel module failed to build
This may be ever so slightly tricky. CVE-2010-3081 was a bug in compat_alloc_user_space, which is the function that compilation is erroring out on. Previously, compat_alloc_user_space was implemented per-architecture, but after the patch, the per-architecture function was renamed to arch_compat_alloc_user_space, and a new function compat_alloc_user_space wraps arch_compat_alloc_user_space. Unfortunately, though, whoever wrote this patch decided that the new compat_alloc_user_space would be exported as a GPL-only symbol, and fglrx is obviously not a GPL module, which means it's not allowed to use the new compat_alloc_user_space symbol. ** CVE added: http://www.cve.mitre.org/cgi- bin/cvename.cgi?name=2010-3081 -- package fglrx 2:8.723.1-0ubuntu4 failed to install/upgrade: fglrx kernel module failed to build https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/642518 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 558926] Re: Open files on ejected media cause automount of new media to break
Hrm... actually it seems to behave a bit differently in maverick. It used to do a lazy unmount of the fs, which removed it from the namespace so no new processes could access the old mount. Now it appears it never unmounts the old disc. I can hit the eject button while a terminal has an open file on the disc and as far as anything can see, the old disc is still there. I can open the drive in my computer in nautilus and still see the files on the disc even though nothing is in the drive. Inserting a new disc has no effect. Nautilus does inform me that the terminal window has files open on the disc when I click the eject button, but when I click unmount anyway, the window just pops right back up again. -- Open files on ejected media cause automount of new media to break https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/558926 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 642567] Re: cant see the Download size of the all packages at once
Abhijit just wants to know the download size it will take to re- install all the installed packages. AbhiJit vish, because i need to reinstall ubuntu. and i have generated automatic installl script. but problem is my net speed. so when i wll be inside my new clean install i want to see total of how much time it is going to take so that i can leave lappy for that much time and go to other work If the properties for all the packages selected was displayed , it would probably solve this bug. The problem here is, Synaptic is able to display the download size for each package , but when we select two or more packages only the properties for the last package is displayed. This might be a separate bug? [Bug 642518] Re: package fglrx 2:8.723.1-0ubuntu4 failed to install/upgrade: fglrx kernel module failed to build
Well, here's one option. Since CVE-2010-3081 was about not checking access_ok() on the return value from (arch_)compat_alloc_user_space, we can add that check to KCL_IOCTL_AllocUserSpace32, use arch_compat_alloc_user_space, and side-step the GPL-only-ness of compat_alloc_user_space. It's not pretty, and could be dangerous if there are future security-related changes to the new compat_alloc_user_space. This patch re-writes KCL_IOCTL_AllocUserSpace32 to use arch_compat_alloc_user_space and check access_ok(). Currently it will only compile on kernels with the CVE-2010-3081 patch; it would need to be tweaked to use compat_alloc_user_space if arch_compat_alloc_user_space isn't defined. ** Patch added: fglrx-installer_8.723.1-0ubuntu5.debdiff https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fglrx-installer/+bug/642518/+attachment/1606715/+files/fglrx-installer_8.723.1-0ubuntu5.debdiff ** Changed in: fglrx-installer (Ubuntu) Status: In Progress = Confirmed ** Changed in: fglrx-installer (Ubuntu) Assignee: Evan Broder (broder) = (unassigned) ** Changed in: fglrx-installer (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = High -- package fglrx 2:8.723.1-0ubuntu4 failed to install/upgrade: fglrx kernel module failed to build https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/642518 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
