OK, my patch changes what was expected to be 32 bits of randomness to 31 bits of randomness. Hello Yes, I am a complete failure as a Linux maintainer... ;-) on the newly installed system I immediately spotted the problem (colision with another package not showing in the previous system probably because of further corruption) and confirm that after purge you can re-install dovecot-postfix. Thanks for your support Rolf, on my part you may close the bug, but the need of using purge on some systems should be investigated. If I discover anything else I will post it here. This bug looks like medium priority since it can totally block some ssh connections in following way: user with many keys connects to some server(s) and all his keys are cached. When he tries to ssh to another server, or filezilla sftp into it, or sshfs, or many other pubkey usecases, then often first all the keys will be tried, often resulting in server disconnecting (instead of tyring the correct key or instead of using the given plain password). In example Firezilla appears to first try all pubkeys of the user that started firezilla and that are in the agent (as seen on debug on server-side) instead of first using the given plain password. [Bug 621509] Re: mysqld randomly causes system to not respond to commands
Clint, the last time this happened, I watched the system attempt to reboot when issued from command line via console. It appears the reboot sequence hangs on attempting to halt mysqld. As far as I can tell, I belive something in conjuction with Cacti and MySQL is causing this problem. It seems to happen when Cacti is still waiting for a response from a busy client it is monitoring and then the poller fires up another check while the one prior is still waiting. Once enough of these get backed up, it does something to cause mysqld to go rogue and that's when my problems start. I might also add that I have spine running with Cacti which was not a default package for 8.04. Thus, I pulled down spine from the 8.10 respositories as well as all the necessary dependencies. I fear this might be the root cause. Either way, I am planning on replacing this system all together with a new one, at which time it will run 10.04. So in short, I believe something I did might be causing this. When installing mysql I expected the setup to ask for a password for the root mysql user, it didn't. As a result, it seems that phpmyadmin wasn't able to create the database that it wanted to create during installation. I tried to uninstall phpmyadmin, that also failed when an attempt to remove the (non-existent) phpmyadmin database failed. I opened a term and entered: sudo apt-get install mysql-server The installation asked for a root password for mysql. [Bug 643248] [NEW] kmail problems with kaddressbook - what is used for autocomplete, how to edit it
Public bug reported: Where kmail stores it's addresses for auto completion? This is very confusing. Config option in kmail just shows Resource (in the button to configure autocompletion order), which does not match any name of the address books in kaddressbook. It seems std.vcf is used from kabc .kde folder - but just sometimes... now adding more contacts with emails does not make kmail use them in autocompletion. Also in kaddress book there are like 5 different formats of address books, they can have subfolders of various formats, can be remote or local, synchronized, etc etc... wtf? People usually just need A one address book. That works well with kmail. That kmail can write into, and that kmail can use for autocompletion. Neither of this 2 functions work in my installation.
