I am having the exact same problem, on Gutsy. Whenever I try to view any
video content, the X server crashes. Tried it with Xine and mplayer,
both the same result. The Xorg.0.log file ends with this:

Eagle 4.x is not compatible with compiz. That is why you get the ugly

Hi guys,
I had exactly the same problem and solved it by purging (instead of just
uninstalling or removing) the postgresql-8.2.
Now everything works fine: the /etc/postgresql has been created along
with the startup script.

I switched the rendering method to something else (x11? i'm not at that

Thunderbird suddenly segfaults after a while.
When that happens, I can't start it again (constant segmentation faults)

Sorry about the status change, since previous status was new I thought

The problem persists after creating a new profile.
As stated above, I get following error when running in debug mode:

I've got a problem with my xbox 360 wireless pad, my ubuntu 11.04
recognize it, but when I plug in my cursor goes to the upper left of my

I do have the same initial problem. The pause in 7-18 seconds. I tried
to disable usb support by appending nousb to the kernel line in the
grub boot menu by pressing e. However this doesn't do the trick for
me. Can you confirm that. Probably the pause doesn't have anything to do
with usb [sdb] at

@Namasteji: That is not even a workaround. That is disabling a feature.
And that box is not even ticked in my case.
The real fix was released on 2010-10-19. I wait for that one to be
released in Ubuntu.

I now attached log.tgz with 3 files:
log.txt - terminal output
debug.txt - debug output
strace.txt - strace output (maybe useless)

For your information: I just tried on another machine, and there it works (same
software-center version).
So it's not a 'global' problem, and therefore it's not really blocking.
I will also check if I can do some extra tracing.
