Konstantinos, removing the \ after set -ex causes it to be interpreted
as its own command, doing nothing, and means that the large shell
snippet isn't run under set -e anymore, meaning that errors in
intermediate get ignored.
In other words, this would fail in a make target:

So in the mean time lpia support went away in lucid; it might still be
useful to allow its installation for some support purposes, but you
should not spend too much time caring about this going forward.
