Commenting out the version line (#version) makes pnm2ppa generate ppa
output for 7xx, I forgot to add that in my test result table. Commenting
out the version line was reported to be working by hansen12345 in bug
#37660.

latest libgnomeprint 2.12.1-3ubuntu2. Do you still have this problem on

The Brother MFC-4800 is not listed at http://www.linuxprinting.org.

Can you verify you have libgnomeprint2.2-0version 2.12.1-3ubuntu2
installed as Anté suggested (dpkg -l libgnomeprint2* should give the
answer).
Can you try if n-up printing from a command line
works by printing a multipage pdf document, e.g.:
$ lp -d Canon -o number-up=4 file.pdf

I believe the patch fixes printing for libgnomeprint based applications as far
as it can be fixed, many people have confirmed it.

Can you attach cups error.log to find out more about the printer error you get.
First edit /etc/cups/cupsd.conf and change the LogLevel to debug, then
restart cups: $ sudo /etc/init.d/cupsys restart, then send a print job using a
scenario where you get printer error, attach
