In Hardy Heron (AMD64, latest version) geomview works only if small

Some users of the Geomview mailing list have confirmed the bug. According to my
tests it exists in all 1.9.x
versions for x5 (also if compiled under Cygwin). Geomview 1.8.1 does not
compile on newer Linux installations
but the unreleased version 1.8.2rc9 (available on
