I agree. Nevertheless Fedora for e.g. ships with some SELinux Monitoring application (I forgot the exact name) which is installed by default and easy to use and understand. At the moment I always have to have a look at the /var/log/audit/audit.log file to figure out whether something went wrong.

I never changed the start order and as you already said the orderng is correct. Further I noticed (on Xubuntu 8.04) and Ubuntu Server 8.04 NTP being started and stopped during the boot proccess. I always thought it was a normal behavior. ;-) What I found in /etc/network/if- up.d/ntpdate though
