Have just recently installed Ubuntu MATE 14.04.2 LTS on a venerable HP notebook. The install was done as Ubuntu 16.04 had failed miserably. Today I got the notice regarding the need to install the new 16.04 hardware updater. N.B., yesterday that update went without a problem on my older DELL PC
