Good. Just to emphasize, Geode doesn't make sense on distros where the
base level for i386 is 686-PAE, since none of the Geodes have PAE (most
Geodes are i586, except for Geode LX which is 686 without PAE).

Yes, it appears that /run/shm has gone missing. That would explain
everything.
As a matter of curiosity, which ones of /run/shm or /dev/shm is the
current default standard? I'm wondering whether there might
CADT has spread to Debian and lead to FHS-deviant release goals. That
definitely explains the confusion.
Anyhow, since the target is is the Ubuntu chroot, I solved this by re-
creating /dev/shm, removing /run/shm and calling it a day.
I'll leave it to you decide whether enforcing something

iPXE only works with Coreboot on specific hardware platforms and only if
SeaBIOS (a free software BIOS implementation) is included in the
firmware build. It is not a universally supported option.

Actually, this is already documented in the README that ships with the
package as imported from Debian:
CAVEAT (UBUNTU)
AppArmor prevents outputting PDF documents to non-default directories
so /etc/apparmor.d/usr.sbin.cupsd must also be edited, whenever the
above defaults get

AFAIK the package used to be a part of Main.
However, its usefulness since Precise is doubtful, considering how
Ubuntu optimizes the i386 archive for i686-PAE. Basically, unless Ubuntu
miraculously decides to support non-PAE x86 hosts again, building the
Geode module for Ubuntu is pointless.

xf86-video-geode: memory corruption in some
As pointed out earlier, both mkelfimage and mknbi have become broken
over time. The only clean solution left for older clients that don't
support PXE is wraplinux. Making wraplinux bootstrap an iPXE blob should
work for BIOS-based clients, but not for e.g. Coreboot-based clients.

The issue you are experiencing when attaching an exernal display is
normal.
Anyhow, this bug report was about making wide resolutions work on Geode-
based laptops, which is now fixed, so I'm closing this report. :)
