I haven't used this notebook since this report.
I have reinstalled MS Vista OS because it behave better.
At the end, I gave notebook to my dauther.
I took it from her and installed lucid-amd64 livecd beta.

1) I still have dmesg:
[ ...] ACPI: EC: GPE storm detected, transactions will use polling mode
2) with lucid, nouveau driver my screen is almost unusable
3) it seems that cpu usage is in better shape now, but still high

silly me :) on the other computer this is perfect screenshot.
Only external camera shot to the notebook screen would be helpful
regarding display driver problem.

I can confirm that empathy sound notification are broken till now.
I have tried with freedesktop theme and copying files to feed necessary
names, but in some expected situations I have no sound.
