I can confirm that on latest LTS (22.04.4) this is still present.
This is a major usability issue. I remember having this problem for many year
now.
Workaround is clear(killing gvfsd-smb-browse). Even a patch is released
that although not solving the root cause shows that the problem is gvfs
my investigation came to same conclusion as #109 (but I'm on 20.04 and
latest kernel, so this is still relevant)
My configuration is as follows.

a few days back my u1 client on Lucid stopped to synchronize with the message:

I can confirm that loading manually the three kernel modules Paolo
mentions above does fix the soundcard detection for the latest kernel in
Precise (3.2.0-26-omap).

Francesco, As I was stating earlier, the 3.0.0-1007-linaro-omap kernel is in
the 12.04 standard repositories and is working (booting) flawlessly. So you
don't need a PPA repository.
Please try that one instead.

The package search portal (packages.ubuntu.com) does not search the
packagaes for ubuntu ports other than the mainstream architectures
(i386, amd64, powerpc)
The ARM port is located here: http://ports.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-ports/
And the package I'm refering to:
the soundcard was working for 11.10. But is no longer working with 12.04. Im
using a beagleboard.
But I think this is a kernel issue not alsa.
the linaro kernel provided in the repositories does gets the soundcard working.
I'm now using 3.0.0-1007-linaro-omap and everything works regarding

This bluetooth device is also in some Acer Aspire One D257 netbooks. It report
via lsusb as 0489:e03c Foxconn / Hon Hai
And the documentation and also the sticker of the module says Atheros
AR5BBU22. So it definitely is an Atheros chip.

I just want to emphasize the fact that this bug concerns not just some
but ALL packages. Update-manager is not able to fetch any changelog, but

I have 5 physical machines with various Ubuntu installations (lucid to precise)

Since you say the services tab was removed (however I was unable to find any
info about this issue), Can you please point us to a recommended way of
managing the bluetooth services ? (i.e. enabling/disabling the audio service? )
