It's just adding / changing a field, yes. Benefit is that it lets 32-bit libraries be installed at the same time as 64-bit ones, without using a vm or container, which is often useful for running legacy software. Downside is that if for some reason the package were changed to make it impossible to

Hi Derek, I'm not totally up to speed on the Multi-Arch thing. Is this just changing a field in the control file? What's the benefit? Any downside? I saw a similar bug on Debian's bugtracker, that didn't make sense to me. Happy to be educated.
