I'm posting now on Feburary 11, 2009 about the same 'synfigstudio does not
start' bug as I see as far back as april 2008.
and still not fixed ? - why does the library that gets offered as update not
match the binary it belongs to?

Same here installed synfigstudio via apt-get in inrepdid. Crash on
startup with segfault. Here's all I got on /var/log/messages:

my synfigstudio crashes in ubuntu intrepid. I have installed with sudo apt-get
install.
Segmentation fault (core dumped). Before something with gtkspinbutton. In Hardy

Is the Debian bug really the same issue? It seems to be about a segmentation
fault and not about the error message reported...
This bug might be the same as #210927 (see the backtrace there) and that seems
to persist in hardy with 0.61.07:
$synfig --version
synfig 0.61.07
$synfigstudio
updated to hardy. works fine now.

The version number are the same between Debian and Ubuntu...
and the corrected version (from the link in bugs.debian.org) is
0.61.05-3.
