Kevin, I've just quickly tried pandoc without thinking.
http://people.ubuntu.com/~benny/ubuntu-manual.epub is what came from it.
From what I see the pictures don't show and there is [sec:files],
[sec:etc.] in places. In the next few days I'll have a look on how to
fix this.
