I recently experienced this problem on Trusty, and tried several of the
recommended work-arounds, without success until I tried switching to
libnss-ldapd in place of libnss-ldap.
That worked. Now I can successfully reboot my LDAP clients.

Yeah, I don't know what happened, but I did a sudo rm -r of the
/etc/bind directory, then tried reinstalling and it worked. Everything's
working like a charm now.

Well, according to ubuntu-bug -p lsb-base, it filed it on lsb because
lsb is the /source/ package. And why did you mark all the other packages
I had associated it to as invalid? They are /ALL/ effected by this exact
same thing, which is how I found it in the first place.

Since a recent upgrade (around the 16th of March), sudo has been broken.
Entering the correct password causes sudo to simply exit and not run the
command, it was found that this could be fixed by commenting/removing
the line
auth optional
My Dell mini9 also had the same problem. Procedure in comment 23 also
fixed mine.

The upstream bug logged against the CifsVFS module within samba
https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1617 has not been updated in
nearly two years. I've pinged a comment on that bug to enquire as to the
status.
My suggestion is that if the upstream bug is not fixed, a Ubuntu patch
