This seems to be a dependency issue if you install libapache2-mod-php5
after apache2.
I fixed this using the following after installing apache2
sudo service apache2 stop
sudo service mysql stop
sudo apt-get purge libapache2-mod-php5
sudo apt-get autoremove
sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get
I have the same problem here. Install and postinst went fine but dpkg
still thinks postinst failed.

I'm not sure because I moved to Arch in the meantime, but I think I
solved the problems by installing libapache2-mod-php5filter instead.
Didn't have any problems with that.
