fuser displayed nothing, so I tried |sudo apt-get update sudo
apt-get upgrade with the same result.

James, I hope you get this because I can't log on to reply to you. I've
only used Lauchpad when there was a bug. Logged on with email and
pswd; however it appears not to work in response to a thread.
The problem remains the same. Can't upgrade.
