Revisiting this fix today... I discovered a similar (but different) slow
down when I switched to Intel graphics this week. So I'm updating the
fix for this bug to also address the framerate problem I found on Intel,
which really affects all graphics chips.

terminal xmodmap -e 'remove Lock = Caps_Lock' it doesn't work.

disabling capture_before_unmap seems to fix the problem. Here's my quick
test:
- Open a Chrome window on virtual desktop 1
- Open a terminal on virtual desktop 2
- Do Ctrl-Alt-Shift-Left to move the terminal to desktop 1
With capture_before_unmap enabled the terminal window is not displayed
The bug is indeed still present. I had missed the capture_before_unmap
suggestion. It was indeed turned off. I've now turned it on and will be
testing it.

I installed the patched version of compiz and used it for some hours.

Adding options acpi_osi=Linux acpi_backlight=legacy in GRUB worked for
me on my friend's computer... mostly. Although the brightness buttons
can now control the backlight, Linux can't, and it still turns off once
in a while (though it's easy enough to turn back on)

Hello,
Since the update requiring the use of KMS, I have a problem with the screen
built into my laptop. When KMS is enabled, my laptop screen remains blank.
However, if I plug in a VGA screen, it works perfectly (and the laptop screen
remains blank).
When KMS is disabled,
PXE Booting is how you would go about network booting. As long as you
can test LiveCD, you should be able to tell if the issue has been
corrected using nouveau, which is included on the CD.

The tip did not work for me, as I never used autologin and still have
the same symptoms. I tried to enable autologin, and then Xorg failed to
come up (startx from the vt1 worked fine). After autologin was disabled,
gdm comes up, I can log in, but problem is still there.

After installation of fglrx-installer via jockey, I rebooted. The login
screen displayed properly, but on logging in the screen turned black. I
find that moving the mouse pointer or using the keyboard causes the
