for some people downgrading to 295.33 worked but you should take note
that you have to do it in virtual terminal and you have to stop lightdm
because if you dont NVidia installer will not run, because there's an
active X session and after finishing the installation you might get a
black screen.
bye the way i think canonical and nVidia have to work on this problem
and solve it ASAP coz its affected bunch of users and graphic cards
problems are sucks. i believe all of us decided to go back to windows
because of this problem but keep on telling our self wait... lets try
few more solutions
This config setting change (Allow Flipping OpenGL) makes it usable, increase
the performance just a little bit;
If you open an OpenGL application do not close it, let it running or minimize,
and everything will be ok, if you close all OpenGL apps video will LAG and will
quickly Flash the screen

This is a Ubuntu problem. They made changes that broke a stable NVIDIA
during a long term release. No forgiveness for me.
This issue for a LTS release definitely makes you stop and wonder what
the developers are thinking. The had several weeks notice that this
NVIDIA issue occurred and

Hi there,
Thank you for your hard work in resolving this issue;
Since the fix doesn't appear to have made it into the most recent Ubuntu LTS,
is there a PPA with the latest fix?
Or perhaps even the link to a .deb download?

I have a similar issue with nvidia drivers where X does not start at all
and Ubuntu goes into login screen. Downgrading to 295.20 does nothing.
Is something wrong with the latest kernel, because the only way to boot is by
using the older kernel (3.0.0+ in my case), not with the latest.
Hope it
I've upgraded to Precise.
xrandr still reports max as 4096x4096, which I think the hardware
doesn't do.
The below might need a separate bug report:
system settings no longer crashes, but doesn't enable both displays. No
matter what I do LVDS1 is black. However, system settings thinks LVDS1

1) First you can try the terminal command:
xrandr --output VGA-1 --mode 1600x1200
2) Under settings displays I could not set all the resolutions if the
mirror function was marked. If you unmarked this function may be you can
set your desired resolution.
