I dont know about Meerkat, and i cannot try.
Lucid 10.04 is LTS and will last longer than meerkat.

Using Neverball (3D opengl game) or gnome-screensaver ant (i guess 3d opengl
too) causes a crash:
screen becomes mostly black, and the computer must be powered off
ctrl alt del does not work,
pressing power button once is
Xorg.0.log.old affected by the crash may contain additional
informations, and is attached
