I too face the same issue. As a result the mouse keeps flickering and at times becomes almost invisible due to the very high rate of flickering, affecting the normal use of the system. I feel this is a critical issue. I found a work around here http://askubuntu.com/questions/398903

I am not sure if this is the same problem or not. I have a similar issue. I opened a Bug #1296020 for ubuntu 14.04 trusty. This is critical to me. I can NOT use gdm and gnome-shell at all because of this bug. gdm failed to start because of this. gnome-shell shows a black (off) screen. I haven't
