Shutter's default save directory is the root / partition, which
produces Error while saving the image 'Desk 1_001.jpeg' Permission
denied This is easily fixed by changing the save location in
Preferences,

Confirmed it because I saw similar behaviour; it defaulted to trying to save it
in
/home/ rather than /home/username

radeonhd doesn't work with lucid because kernel modesetting is used, and
radeonhd doesn't support it. Closing as wontfix. The driver will likely
be removed from lucid. As you noticed, -ati works and supports all the
chips out there.. (though maybe not the newest ones just yet :)

I've just started using Ubuntu 9.10 x64. I'm having the same issue as
that listed in the bug report. I tried installing ubuntustudio-controls,
but it only sets the memlock option (it has a GUI setting for the nice
option but selecting it does not add the entry in limits.conf).

Please remove -radeonhd from the archive. It doesn't work with kernel
modesetting turned on, and while KMS can be disabled there's little
reason to keep the driver around, since -ati is what we support.
There are no reverse
Just to clarify, your cdrom/dvd will work just fine if you comment the
/dev/sr0 line on the /etc/fstab file
