The patch referenced in comment 22 appears to operate as advertised,
removing /dev/sd[a-z][0-9] entries corresponding with the RAID members.

I am, however, somewhat concerned -- there are still numerous references
to the underlying partitions based on the identity of the underlying
hardware, such as
/dev/mapper/1ATA_ST3320620AS_9QF8SL{J8,RF}-part{1,2,3,4,5}, and I don't
see anything in the default lvm.conf which would remove such entries
from consideration.
