The 1.0.0 release is out now. We are tracking current packages on the
bcfg2 launchpad page (https://launchpad.net/~bcfg2). I have tried both
server and client on karmic and they both work.

This release was out well before this version of Python was in use. I
would recommend upgrading to the 1.0 release candidate by adding the
Bcfg2 PPA (https://launchpad.net/~bcfg2/+archive/ppa). This release has
been tested on karmic.
